Hello,

I currently use a self-assembled, Raspberry Pi, Stratus, ADS-B "in" device. It works fine, but is aging.

Can anyone recommend an ADS-B "in" device to use with iFly EFB on an iPad?

I also have an AV-30 "Link" on my AV-30. Is there anyway to "share" data from iFly EFB on an iPad to the AV-30 "Link"?

And finally, I am interested in anyone's experience with the new AV-30 HSI adapter and iFly EFB.

FWIW - I am an extremely experienced pilot with extensive experience with Boeing's Part 121 iPad software, with Foreflight (with my current jet employer) and with iFly EFB. With that said, I am a huge fan of iFly EFB and consider it the BEST General Aviation EFB software!

Thanks!

I have two Stratux's, #1 with 9 years use, #2 with 7 years use, no problems with either.

If they were still available, new, I wouldn't worry. But I am looking for a replacement for when (not if, but when) this one fails.

Has anyone tried the Stratus device with iFly EFB?

I'm another happy DIY Stratux user, and plan to replace it with another Stratux if the current ones I have fail (I have two).

AP said recently the Stratus 3 is their preferred ADSB-In device--see here: https://adventurepilot.community.fo...rmin-gdl50-gdl52-adsb-receivers.338/post-3144

Since you have an iOS device, you should have no problem finding an app that will let you change the Stratus 3's output datastream to GDL-90 ("Open ADSB") mode, which is required if you want to use it with iFly. Some Android-only users have had difficulty doing that in the past.

If you have any intention of using Foreflight, know that doing so will automatically swap the Stratus 3 back to its proprietary FF data output mode and it will stop working with iFly until you change it back to GDL-90 output mode.

First off, did you mean Stratux in the sentence above? I presume you meant Stratux, so...

I also used the DIY Stratux with no complaints, then we had to get a new ADSB transponder, and we ended up with the Appareo/Stratus III. The only complaint about that is that if someone uses ForeFlight it automatically turns the Open ADSB off, and I have to use the Stratus Horizon app to change it back. Not a real big deal, but just something else to do. The Stratus III, it seems, will not work for both iFlyEFB and ForeFlight at the same time in the cockpit.

If the concern is the Stratux "aging", you can buy a new Pi, burn a new microSD card with the latest Stratux image from Github, move the SDR radios over to the new Pi, and you're as good as new.

We're using our self assembled Stratux - which has worked flawlessly since programming it with a EU version of Stratux to resolve an unstable AHRS display. I just checked and found a newer version for the same software version, adapted for US use. The website for the info is https://stratux.me/.

There is a link on that site that gets one to the newest software version.
