Today, the turn alert counts down and tells you the amount of degrees left or right you need to turn, assumingely based on speed, standard rate of turn.

Would like to have an option to show final heading.

Example, on a 180 course with a 270 course at the next waypoint. Today it shows R 90*. Would like option to say R 270*. This is similar to how IFR navigators pop up their turn notifications.

The current "Turn" instrument does more than just alert upcoming turns. In-between waypoints, it provides guidance for tracking the magenta line, suggesting slight turns to rejoin your course if you begin to deviate. Keeping the instrument on "0" will always keep you on course. It might be confusing to have an option to change the behavior of that instrument so substantially (I'm imagining an inadvertent change, or a device that is shared between users with different settings for that instrument, etc.).

Perhaps a new instrument for "course to next waypoint" or similar would address your desire?

Completely agree the current instrument does more than just predictive upcoming turn notifications.

It can be a new instrument, but it is really not a course to next waypoint. I would expect a course to the next waypoint to be the current bearing to the next waypoint. That negates the predictive functionality of the current instrument. This is really just a different way to display the data using the same functionality

Coming from either a Avidyne or Garmin navigator they reflect turns based on course as opposed to degrees variance. I believe that AP is unique is using degrees of turn in this use case.

Impending Turn Notification (From Avidyne, but Garmin is similar with their devices)
If flying the defined flight plan, the IFD will provide a message about an impending turn that includes the upcoming desired track (DTK) and a 10 second (30 second if the required turn is more than 120 degrees) count down.
If the course change at a waypoint is greater than 135°, then the FMS will treat the waypoint as a “fly-over” waypoint. If the course change at a waypoint is less than or equal to 135°, then the FMS will treat the waypoint as a “fly-by” waypoint meaning lead turns beginning up to a maximum of 2.5nm can be expected.

AP does handle cross track or track angle error similar to how both Avidyne and Garmin handle the discrepancy.

Track Angle Error (From Avidyne)
Track angle error (error in degrees between desired track and actual track) and an arrow indicating direction to fly to correct the error.

Having an EFB align with the methodology of an IFR navigator would pose less confusion in my perspective as opposed to how the data is presented today. I also believe it is easier to consume a specific course as opposed to mental math to subtract 73 from the current course.

Just my .02

Yes I like the option for "turn to heading" rather than degrees of turn. Just change the notation slightly - or how about UNDERLINE a heading to symbolize a mag heading.

Just thinking.
