Considering renewing subscription. The new update where weather brief is Leidos is very nice. Vertical profile is nice, but layers and can get a little busy. I’m not the smartest guy, and I’m still trying to figure out with all the graphics are without having a graphics key. The pdf weather is nice.

My big hangup is no Navlog. I have been trying to figure a way to come up with a Navlog, and I am unsuccessful. The only options I can come up with is a third-party; whether I go to a free site or paid for site or hand jamming an old school blank piece of paper. Third party sites are not realistic. It is a tremendous amount of work to retype everything into those sites because I can’t export from Ifly into them.

The Iflightplanner sync is a mystery button for me. I have no idea what it does. I think I can flight plan in Iflightpalnner and it will auto sync with IflyEFB, but that only goes from iFightplanner to iFly EFB. Not the other way. In addition to that, I have to PAY Iflightplanner to plan flights that I to sync with iFly EFB. Very counterintuitive to pay two subscriptions.

I am being honest in that I think I must be missing something because the “all in one EFB” branding and top comparisons to “other” EFBs does not appear true to me. I really like the App but am still struggling to use it. What am I missing here?

Thanks

I have heard a few (very vocal) folks request this. I kinda get it, but I also kinda don't. I, too, actually like having a paper navlog...but I don't *always* print one. When I do, it's no big deal for me to print the navlog from elsewhere...see below. When I don't--or, when the printed plan becomes obsolete due to enroute changes--I just tap the "Flight Plan" button on iFly, and look at my NavLog there.

Well, I guess reasonable people can disagree, here. For many years, I've had to separately input my flight plans in THREE places: Once into iFly, a second time into my in-panel GPS navigator, and a third time into my online flight plan tool of choice (fltplan.com). For me, it's not a "tremendous amount of work". Whether I fill out my fltplan.com plan from a desktop keyboard in an FBO or from my tablet in the plane, it only takes me 2-3 minutes. YMMV. 🤷🏻‍♂️

Since I fly almost exclusively IFR, the printed flight plan is mostly valuable for the white space at the bottom of the page where I can scribble notes for updated routings/clearances I get from ATC. iFly and my in-panel GPS will stay up-to-date as I enter those modifications en-route, but the printed plan almost always becomes obsolete.

I don't have an iFlightplanner account, so I can't speak to that. From the iFly user manual, I agree it appears to be one-way, but I don't know for sure.

I once used SkyVector.com to plan a complex flight (used lat/lon waypoints to chart a course through the Grand Canyon VFR corridors), and then exported an .fpl file that I imported into iFly. But that's the only time I've tried to sync between an online planning tool and iFly.

That is not a bad idea... I would like to export my plan to PDF. I may or may not print it, but I can pull it up if the app crashes or give to another person who does not have the app. So I guess i have to plan on sky vector, which I have done... but I did not import the plan. I just reentered all the work. They were not exactly the same, but got the job done. I would be nice to do once and not again. I think I will try this today to see how well the import comes in.

If you get a chance, I would be interested in your results. I tried it on Sky Vector after Cobra posted that information. I haven’t had any luck with .FPL (not a Sky Vector option?) nor a working exportable format that I can use with Ifly. I’m gonna keep trying.

I just re-transferred my SkyVector flight plan to iFly. Took less than a minute. Here's how I did it:
  1. Create a flight plan in SkyVector (SV)
  2. In the SV "Flight Plan" window, tap the far-right icon that looks like a folder with an arrow coming out of it:

  3. On the left side of the "Export Flight Plan" window, select the ".fpl" tab:

  4. Enter your email address, and click the .fpl file.
  5. On my Android device, I opened Gmail, found the email from SV, and tapped on the .fpl attachment in that email
  6. Android asked me which app to open the file in, and offered iFly EFB as an option. I selected it, and iFly launched directly to the Flight Plan page with the SV flight plan in place:

This functionality is broke with Apple if @tbouchertx is an apple user. Specifically step 6. iOS does not recognize iFlyEFB being associated with any file types.

Not supprised with apple and file associations. I think can be fixed with an updated from ifly. Can you try to save the file to the device. Start iFlyEFB and import/load the FPL and browse to the file you saved previously? I believe ipad os has somewhat of a file explorer/finder nowadays.

That does not work either. It is a known bug. AP is working on a fix and has half of it tackled already.
