Is there a way to import KML file for custom map overlay?

Hello,
I'm new here and a student pilot. I'm running iFlyEFB 12.2.24 on a Google Pixel 6 running Android 13. I have a question about custom map overlays.

In Colorado there are KML files available to outline various practice areas in the busy metropolitan areas. These are available from colorado pilots website. For reference:
https://coloradopilots.org/content.aspx?page_id=22&club_id=612720&module_id=540533.
These can be imported into Foreflight as outlined on the website. You can also use them in Google maps from what I understand. I'm wondering if there is a procedure to import custom map files in iFly?

Thanks!

Good question! As far as I know, there is no way to import custom map files into iFly. But I hope I'm wrong and wish there were. If no one knows of any, it would make a good new-feature request.

That's a great idea. There an overlay for practice areas here in Phoenix area but it would be great to be able to overlay this on top of iFly

Yeah, there's no way to do that today, but Adventure Pilot is currently working on an overhaul the display engine, so this might be a perfect opportunity to add the feature. Suggest you make that request in this forum: https://adventurepilot.community.forum/forums/feature-requests.8/
I'll head over there and make a post. The KML files are pretty lightweight. Just contain the geographic data to define a point or path. Here is what this KML file looks like imported to google earth:

It shows a a bit more detail about the practice areas than what is on the VFR sectional, or any other map available. Sectional has a note about heavy training in the area, and a frequency. I guess this is not even a map file. It's more like flight plan data. Just the overlay of the geographic points on top of any map you have displayed.

In the windows version you can import sketches as KML files. Tools > Sketch > Import KML. You might give this a try - if it works you can sync the sketch to your other devices. KML is a loose format so not sure how well it will translate.
