Every time I try to open a downloaded pdf file completly unrelated to Ifly, Ifly opens and I don't get the file?

Samsung tablet, ifly up to date. Can't find any setting that says default reader for pdf but ifly keeps opening when I try to view thw downloaded or even saved file.

Any help appreciated.
Thanks.

Try this:

Settings > Apps > iFly > Set as default > Clear defaults

Then, be careful in the future when opening PDF files. Either always select the app you want to use each time you open a PDF and decline the option to make it a default (which continues to leaves the option open to use different apps to open PDF files and lets you select each time you open a file), or else specifically pick an appropriate app (like Google Drive, Adobe Reader, etc.) and set that as your default app for PDF files.

Thanks for the reply.
I had already done that and when I go to ifly in app settings it states: "none set as default" and the "clear default" box is not hi-lighted/unclickable.

I did try again after a restart and same. Shows none and a nonselectable clear box.

My other samsung acts as you describe and I always set my stuff up to ask which program and always use "just this time" for some reason I can't get this tablet to do the same.

You sound pretty savvy so I'm sure you've already tried this, but for completeness, have you tried Settings > Apps > Choose Default Apps, and made sure there's nothing obvious there?

This might be a bit extreme, but I'm not sure what else to suggest: If all else fails, try uninstalling iFly, then opening a PDF file. Presumably, you'll then get the option to select another app to open the file with. Pick one (again, either selecting that app as the the default to open PDFs in the future, or not), then reinstall iFly and confirm that PDFs no longer open with iFly as the default.

Yep that is set to "ask" also.

Thanks for the good info.
I did uninstall ifly several weeks ago to try and fix. with ifly gone it acted normal. As soon as it was re-installed it started taking over again.
hmmm.

Doh!! How irritating!

With iFly uninstalled, did you try choosing another app to the default vs. the "ask every time" option, to see if that would "stick" after iFly was reinstalled?

Also, have you tried launching a PDF handler app like Google Drive or Adobe Acrobat, and from within that app, navigating to your downloaded PDF file to open it from there? Does that successfully open the PDF? (I'm wondering if there's something about the names or contents of the file(s) you're trying to open that is broken/corrupt/non-standard and that this approach might give you a clue as to why this behavior is happening.)

When I have a problem similar to this (a program seems to be doing something it is specifically set NOT to do), I go in, set it to DO the task, close the program, then open it, and THEN set it to NOT do the task. In this case set iFly to be the default, close the program, open it again then clear the defaults. Not sure it will work, but it's worked a time or two for me.
