This feature would add the ability to create alerts based on one or more configurable conditions.
Use Case A: Configure an alert to inform the pilot when reaching an altitude from below.
Cessna 172's have an AD the requires pilots to switch to single tank operations above 5000 ft. An alert that triggered when reaching 5000 ft from below could prompt the pilot to switch from both tanks to single tank operation.
Use Case B: Configure an alert to trigger when a decent is started. This could be used to prompt the pilot to ensure the mixture has been enriched to prevent over leaning the engine.
Use Case C: Configure an alert that would trigger when approaching a destination on a flight plan. The alert could alert the pilot that they are a specified distance from the destination and could also be made interactive to perhaps offer the ability to open a pre-landing checklist.
Use Case D: This is a multiple part trigger. An alert could be configured to remind the pilot to lower the landing gear when: a) within 5 miles of an airport and b) a decent is in progress and c) the airspeed/groundspeed falls below a specifies value. If all of these conditions were true, it could display an alert reminding the pilot to check the position of the landing gear.
There are many other cases in which multiple conditions could be combined using AND and OR clauses to create alerts. The alerts themslves could be infomational only or interactive to allow the alert to provide options to navigate to different sections of the efb such as "display a checklist".
The use cases would be configurable by the user to include the trigger conditions and the resulting alert and options.
