Is anyone flying with the iFly tablet yet? If so, what are your impressions so far?

I see no one responded to you. Not sure if you still need any feedback. Not sure which tablet you are referring to, the 740 or the new Android version or iFly on an Apple ipad? We have both the 740 and an iPad version in our training aircraft. The 740 is superior to the iPad since we have never had a heat related shutdown of the unit. The iPad is constantly shutting down. We fly in FL so it does get hot down here. Never had any issues with the 740 so the new Android tablet I suspect will be pretty solid.

I was referring to the new Android tablet. I use a 740 now. Thanks.

We now have both the iFly Tablet and the Tripltek tablets and can compare the two. They are similar in size, with the Tripltek being ½" longer, width is the same. The iFly tablet is thicker.
The iFly tablet weighs 30.2 oz., the Tripltek is 25.6 oz., both with a RAM ball installed.

Both feel very rugged. We haven't flown with the iFly tablet enough to vouch for it's ability to handle heat, but the Tripltek worked great in this summer's 100+ temps for several hours in the windshield corner in the C182. I expect the same from the iFLy.

I took side-by-side photos of them in full sunlight, partial shade, and inside. My impression is that the Tripltek is brighter, but the iFly has more contrast. It would be hard to have to decide which is better based on the screens. Both blow away the 740, Samsung Galaxy Tab A, iPad mini, etc.

Both are far more responsive than the 740 - it is slow compared to these (also much older).

I was concerned that a right-angle USB-C cord would not fit in the recessed socket on the iFly tablet, but it does and works fine.
Photos attached.

My only complaint about the iFly tablet is that it will not fit the panel mount with the RAM ball attached. This is only an issue because I plan to move it between two aircraft, one using the RAM mount, the other has the docking unit mounted in the panel. Also, the supplied mounting screws for the RAM ball are almost too small for the holes in the RAM ball.

Thank you for the write up. From your pics, it does appear to me that the iFly has a tad more screen real estate. You mentioned the Tripletek was mounted on the corner of the windshield. Do you use a suction mount on the windshield? Also, what do you use the USB-C cable for?
Thanks again.

I replaced the plastic side panel with aluminum, braced it in the back, and mounted a RAM ball on the top edge. A RAM 6" double socket arm holds the tablet. I power the tablet with ships power, relying on the build-in battery as a backup. I have one of these between the 14V and the USB-C :

Thanks for the photos and write up. It appears that the Tripletek has a larger display screen than the iFly tablet.

It is a little larger, but I don't notice the difference when flying.
