I have an original Stratus receiver that I used to use with the original Foreflight and ipad. Now getting back into aviation, and it appears the 3 and up are supported but any chance the early box might work with an iPad running ifly?

You can try it and see: From within iFly, go to Menu > About > Connected Devices > Select Wireless Device > Stratus v1
I'm not certain that all Stratus v1's will work, though. I've never owned a Stratus and am not an expert re: their usage with non-Foreflight software, but as I recall there were some cat-and-mouse games being played back then by the Stratus/Foreflight folks to try to keep other EFBs from using Stratus (and to keep Stratus imitators, like the DIY Stratux device, from working with Foreflight). I think there might be a couple of different firmware versions for the original Stratus, and you might get different results depending on which version.
Maybe someone with more direct Stratus knowledge/experience can give you a more definitive answer.

Thanks. Worth a try I suppose. I like the looks of the ifly app so if I have to buy a new box so be it. But before I relegate it to paperweight maybe try it. Alot has happened in this part of aviation the last 10 years or so!
