Giving potential customers unlimited opportunity to demo the product can only serve to increase sales by affording more familiarity with the product.
Also, existing subscribers often prepare a flight plan on a device other than the one(s) we fly with.
Perhaps AP should consider changing operation of the app to provide an unlimited evaluation period in a demo mode with device location disabled. This would provide two benefits. First, it would afford potential buyers unlimited opportunity be gain familiarity with the product, making it a more likely choice to buy. Second, a subscriber could use the app in demo mode to brief and prepare flight plans on devices other than those licensed for operational mode and transfer the plans to the licensed devices for flight, via cloud or file export or local network share.

I haven't been a "new user" for over 10 years now so I'm not sure I know what the eval capability is, but isn't the eval period 30 days? And doesn't the eval capability allow two devices from any combination of platforms?

If so, that seems like it would allow sufficient leeway for a new user to try out whatever they'd like to see.

A few thoughts.

I believe that AP provides a 30 day full license to test with during the eval period. That includes IFR and I believe multi platform. After 30 days you are limited to 10 min sessions with an hour break in between.

When I first started using iFly, I was coming off over 11 years with FF. The airplane I was buying had a 740 and I needed to learn it. The learning curve was steep and I think most will admit the iFly manual leaves a bunch to desire. After the first 30 days, I still needed more time. I called AP and they extended my eval another 30 days. Great customer service in my eyes.

I participate in the beta program and I use other devices to test on. I mainly use the 10 min eval session to test functionality until I am confident in it enough to load it on my production devices.

New Customer here. Personally, I refuse to use ForeFlight. I hear it is very good, but I like my subscription services to be device agnostic. I am a huge Garmin device and service user, so I knew about Garmin Pilot. I did not know anything about iFly. Searching for Stratux compatible EFB software led me to iFly.

I liked the idea of iFly from the very beginning. Multiplatform, works perfectly with Stratux, passionate team behind the product. I watched a lot of videos of Walter and staff. It is easy to find FF and GP comparison videos and reviews, but iFly is not talked about much in the mainstream. I emailed AP to ask about the trial, multiplatform options, and a few other things. They replied back to me QUICKLY. I love good customer service. Price wise, they are very close to Garmin, so why not go with the big boys? Garmin's CS is very good for the products I have used, US support at that. iFly CS is also very good. I purchased a Garmin D2 with a 3-month trial to GPilot. AP extended my trail upon request. I flew with iFly then Garmin. I used Garmin a lot in the cockpit and on the ground. I just purchased iFly subscription.

I have echoed your idea of planning on the computer and then sending it to the tablet. FF, you can do it via web access. I would like plan on my PC or surface at home/office and then sync to the cloud. Make home version incompatible with GPS and other functionality to keep abuse low... Ultimately, I am afraid the windows version might be getting boot! I like the idea of taking my surface go in the cockpit, but I have a couple android tablets that I like to use more for this.

I think 90 days is perfect. 30 days is what they give us, but they extended my time for me to actually test and compare... It worked out for them, they have a new user! Just ask CS. They were very happy to extend. Also, some ideas I requested were discussed. Really a "Good Guy" company in my book.
