Is there any way to export a flight plan from IflyEFB to a GRT EFIS? GRT can accept a GPX flight plan but I am not sure what else

I do this via the sd1000 bluetooth device that ifly suggested. You need a wire from that device to the GRT EFIS. It works, but requires multiple clicks in the IFLYEFB setup menu each time to make the connection.

I am confused. I read about the SD1000 solution to get NMEA output to drive an autopilot, but how does this get Flight Plan information to the GRT EFIS? As I understand it, NMEA output is just lateral guidance and as I dont understand how that transfers flight plans to the EFIS. Can you be more specific about what input you would use to get it into the GRT EFIS?

GRT reads serial NMEA output same as an autopilot. I have a legacy model...GRT Horizon HX. Mine doesn't read vertical guidance from an RS323 serial flight plan. I have to separately add vertical info to the EFIS for each altitude change that then gets sent to my autopilot via an ARINC interface. Newer models may be different. And it may be different if using GRT autopilot servos. Ask GRT and Adventure Pilot. I don't think Adventure Pilot EFB supports ARINC interface. I do know that lateral guidance works from EFB to GRT via Bluetooth to the sd1000, then hardwire from there to the EFIS.

I found this much from GRT :

To import a flight plan (any GPS format)
from flight planning software on a USB
stick:
1. From any MAP page press any
button
2. Press NEXT (more than once may be
required)
3. Press PLAN
4. Press right knob and scroll to select
IMPORT
5. Press button labeled UP or DOWN to
select the desired flight plan
6. Press the button labeled LOAD to
copy it to the GRT Sport

I then found this:

In iFly EFB, after creating a flight plan, click More Options, then Share/Export Flight Plan ...
You then choose either Share to Local Network or Export to Shareable file
GRT wants the plan on a USB stick, so file it is. It creates an xxx to zzz.fpl file.

I'll try this next time I go airport hopping.

I've found myself with similar trouble. I want to export plans from iFly to Dynon Skyview. (They can talk via wifi, however the Dynon setup doesn't have a wifi adapter, so for now I can only use files.)

For now, I've discovered that SkyVector can export a plan in both .fpl and .gpx formats. I later learned, via the FAQ (but not the manual), that iFly can import .gpx plans in a somewhat roundabout way.

So for now, my setup is: 1) make a flight plan in SkyVector 2) export that plan as a .gpx file 3) use the roundabout way to get that .gpx loaded into iFly as described in the FAQ 4) load the same .gpx file into Dynon Skyview. Altho roundabout, it succeeds at getting the same plan on both my EFBs.

I would be able to avoid the third party tool if I had the Skyview wifi adapter, or else if iFly could export .gpx files on its own. Hopefully the latter is in the "new features" pipeline.

I've now tried to export a flight plan from iFly EFB on both the iFly tablet and the Tripltek tablet to a micro SD card. Both tablets acknowledge the SD card. I creaet a flight plan, more options, Share/Export Flight Plan, Export to Shareable File, then I see a white screen with the flight plan as starting and end points via the other two airports.fpl displayed at the top just to the right of an SD card icon.
A little box with Quick Share which looks for another phone to send it to.
In the center it says "No recommended people to share with.
At the bottom it offers Bluetooth, Google Drive and Gmail, but no option to save to the SD card.

I examined the SD card after shutting down the tablet and the card has empty directories, including a buried iFly flight plans one.
How to get the .fpl saved onto the SD card???

Same exact sequence on both tablets.

How to get the .fpl saved onto the SD card???
It's an extra step or three, but some workaround options if you really need to do this today:

Option 1: Within iFly, export your flight plan via "Save to Google Drive", then either:
  1. Switch out of iFly and launch your Android file manager of choice, then copy the file from your Google Drive folder to the SD Card
  2. Use an Internet-connected laptop or PC or Mac with an SD Card interface and copy the file from your Google Drive to the SD card (requires the Android device to sync to the cloud after saving the flight plan to Google Drive, of course).
Option 2: Within iFly, export your flight plan via "Share to GMail" to create a blank email with the flight plan file attached, and save the draft email to the cloud. Use an Internet-connected laptop or PC or Mac with an SD Card interface to open the draft email in GMail and download the attached flight plan to the SD Card, then delete the draft email.

I assume this is related to your GRT EFIS post over here. I don't know what interface the GRT uses, but if it's a USB then of course you could just skip the SD Card and go straight to a USB thumbdrive if you move the file through a Windows or Mac device.

Thanks - yes multiple posts related to one subject. I'm hoping that adventure pilot will provide a direct to SD card option someday, I'll have to use gmail until then.
