It would be helpful to have higher-resolution charts and plates displayed within iFly EFB. Sectionals and IFR plates can be difficult to read because they are so fuzzy, especially when zoomed out. I've attached screenshots of my iFly sectional and a SkyVector rendering to demonstrate the significant difference in quality. Other EFB apps I've seen also use higher resolution. I didn't include the IFR plates in the pictures below, but they suffer from the same low image quality.

I would like to see higher resolution charts and plates as well. The current charts and plates are fuzzy, where higher resolution would allow for a quicker and more accurate read with less need for zooming in.

I've noticed a decrease3 in resolution of the charts recently - the last one or two updates. Definitely not as sharp as they used to be.

Was there ever anything found on this? I am a new user and was noticing the maps were bordering on unacceptably low resolution. I was hoping there was a setting somewhere.

Are you comparing a SkyVector image downloaded from the web to an iFly image stored on your device? If I compare the SkyVector image to the iFly web image on my PC, I don't see any difference at all.

Do you think the resolution of the stored image is probably a compromise between file size and resolution?

@MiserBird and @jasongould, many months ago, @Brian mentioned that the maps are stored in full resolution but just displayed by iFly at half resolution, which is why we get fuzzy maps and plates. At that time, he mentioned that the new graphics engine of iFly EFB would make this a relatively simple improvement to implement. I haven't seen any discussion of this issue since, so they remain fuzzy. I hope the developers will get to it soon! This upgrade would present a much more professional and modern appearance.
