My 802.11n WiFi dongle inside of the 740b failed a while back. The internal and external USB ports are fine.

I use the 740b to feed my engine monitor via the USB > RS-232 converter > EI CGR-30P to get the fuel calculations and that is working fine.
I tested the internal USB port by connecting a keyboard and that works fine.

I have a replacement 802.11n WiFi dongle and it is working on my windows XP and 7 desktop computers but is not recognized by either of the USB ports on the 740b.

Can someone offer up the steps to install the new, identical, 802.11n WiFi dongle?

It seems the 802.11n WiFi dongle inside your 740b has malfunctioned, but since the internal and external USB ports are working fine, the issue likely lies with the dongle itself. You could try replacing it with a new one or troubleshoot the driver to ensure there are no software-related issues.
