I have used Real Plan quite a bit lately on some long flights. Most of the waypoints appear to be random and are lat/long whereas there usually is a fix near them. I usually go in and remove the WPs that do not seem to have a purpose and move the remainder to fixes nearby; thereby, making it easier to explain to accompanying pilots the routing. How easy would it be to have Real Plan use fixes instead of lat/long?

I thought the "random" WPs are there to maximize advantages due to winds aloft in an area and avoiding airspace/items the user had selected to avoid. I'm only guessing but maybe a dev can provide more clarity.

Airspace was not an issue as I am familiar with flying thru such areas. Winds I had not considered but since I now rarely go above 3,000’ I would not think it would affect the route much. This issue is not so much the use of waypoints but the choice of location of them.
